Officer Lou Golson
Officer Lou Golson was making a routine DWI traffic stop when the driver suddenly fired several rounds, striking him at least three times, with two hitting his vest. The third shot entered his upper leg, resulting in a spiral fracture of his right femur. Golson also sustained a broken wrist, from the fall after he was shot.
These injuries continue to send him in and out of physical therapy and to countless doctors appointments. And while most people believe that all of the time off for his healing and appointments are covered by the City, they are not. Officer Golson has exhausted his leave time while healing from these traumatic injuries, so that everyday not working is a day he won't get paid for, causing more stress for his family.
The Albuquerque Police Foundation believes that our heroes should never face this struggle after putting their live son the line for our community, that's why we are dedicated to helping officers like Lou Golson.
